The point at which a material ceases to be waste and becomes a product or secondary raw material. End of waste is achieved when material has been recovered and meets specific criteria: common use, market demand, meets technical standards, and poses no environmental harm. UK-defined end of waste criteria exist for some materials; otherwise case-by-case assessment applies.
